Applied Sustainability Forum (ASF) Building the Net Zero Skills Framework

Wed 21 Jan 2026 10:30 AM - 12:30 PM Coventry University, Elm Bank, CV1 2LY

Join Coventry University for the next Applied Sustainability Forum (ASF) a practical, collaborative session bringing together businesses, training providers, academia and policy partners to strengthen net zero capability across the West Midlands.

The session will open with a welcome and overview of the forum’s purpose, before hearing a regional overview from James Tallentire, Delivery Manager – Stakeholder Engagement (Plan for Growth), West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA), exploring the West Midlands context for net zero delivery and the skills needed to support it.

We’ll then hear a business success story from Wylde Connections, with Denise Taylor, Managing Director sharing a real-world case study and leading a facilitated discussion on what has enabled progress, what challenges remain, and how organisations can build practical sustainability awareness and green skills.

The forum will also include an expert overview of the circular economy from Dr Sinead Ouillon, including a macro example on Critical Raw Materials and supply chains — and why it matters to use local materials longer through approaches such as repair, reuse, remanufacture and smarter sourcing.

This event is ideal for organisations looking to move from ambition to implementation — and to connect with others working on net zero skills, workforce development and applied sustainability.
