Saturday Studios – Creative Campaigners
How can we use our creativity energy in fun and thoughtful ways to pave the way for a greener and fairer future?
Heather Marshall is an artist and campaigner who uses her creativity to highlight important socio-political issues. In this session, we’ll take inspiration from street art, tracing its roots from New York City in the 1980s, where messages were sent across the city on trains, to today's growing trend for eco-friendly, removable street art, including paper-based tape art, reverse graffiti, and moss art.
Using these ideas, we’ll explore ways to communicate the changes we want to see in our local area. For example, advocating for better sustainable and public travel options in our rural community, which would not only reduce carbon emissions but also improve the lives of disabled people and families on low incomes.
This workshop is for children aged 5-16 to attend with their parents or carers. Children over 8 years old may attend without an accompanying adult. Please book a ticket for each person attending.
This workshop will also take place twice throughout the day, please book your preferred session.
Support
Cove Park is a charity and most of our funding for our residencies and engagement workshops is paid by trusts, foundations and individual donors. Creative Scotland currently funds just 25% of our annual costs and individual philanthropy is essential to sustain our work.
Our Saturday Studio programme provides an inspiring environment for self-expression through creative education. Without this engagement initiative, young people in our rural community would not have access to free and consistent creative activity. Cove Park's new Argyll Associates programme invites individuals and families based locally to become a partner in helping us to enrich arts, culture, and creativity in Argyll. If you would like to help underwrite the costs required to keep our Saturday Studio workshops free and open, you can join our Argyll Associates programme or give a donation when booking.
