Muslim Shaggan
Pakistani Classical Vocalist | Custodian of a 500-Year Legacy
As part of our Friday Event Series celebrating Cove Park’s 25th Anniversary, please join us for a special concert performance by our current resident, Muslim Shaggan, marking the culmination of his month-long awarded residency.
Muslim Shaggan is one of the most accomplished classical vocalists of Pakistan. Trained by his grandfather, the legendary Ustad Ghulam Hassan Shaggan of the Gwalior Gharana and Rababi tradition, he represents a rare fusion of two iconic lineages of South Asian music. Under the spiritual guidance and supervision of Sarkar Syed Ali Dan Kazmi, Shaggan’s music resonates with deep emotional and spiritual connection.
Specializing in Khayal, his repertoire spans Thumri, Ghazal, Sufi Kalam, Kafi, and semi-classical forms. A regular performer at major classical forums, he is known for his emotive depth, intricate vocal technique, and soulful expression.
In his UK debut at Cove Park, Scotland, Muslim Shaggan presents a compelling journey through raags of longing, romance, and devotion — accompanied by live musicians.
This free, 90-minute performance is open to all ages and is perfect for anyone with a love for music. Refreshments provided. If you have any questions about event accessibility, please get in touch with Senior Producer Alex Marrs.
Support
Cove Park is a charity and most of our funding for our residencies and engagement programming is paid by trusts, foundations and individual donors. Creative Scotland currently funds just 25% of our annual costs and individual philanthropy is essential to sustain our work.
Through our Engagement programme, we provide an inspiring environment for community and collaboration through creative and cultural workshops, events, and activities. Our programming has focused on rural isolation, geographic disadvantage, the impact of climate change upon our region, the preservation of Scotland’s rainforests, marine pollution, and the conservation of our natural heritage.
Community & Collaboration shares Cove Park’s unique resources – its outstanding 50-acre rural site and award-winning facilities – with the aim of enriching the cultural life of our region, protecting our local environment, transforming lives, and strengthening communities.
