Spoon Carving with JoJo Wood
Mon Aug 8, 2022 9:00 AM - Tue Aug 9, 2022 5:00 PM EDT
Lost Art Press, 41011
Description
Starting from
a piece of fresh green wood, you will use simple carving
techniques with hand tools to create beautiful spoons you can
use in your home. Take home some beautiful objects and plenty of
new skills to begin or continue carving at home. Suitable for anyone with any level of woodwork or carving experience (including complete beginners).
This two-day course covers all of JoJo’s favorite spoon carving techniques, which focus on efficiency and enjoyment – and getting the best result while straining your body the least. You will learn the most efficient ways to use the tools and find your utensil in the piece of wood, always focusing on clever technique over physical power.
You will learn how best to utilize the simple tools (see below) to create the best results, as well as learn some design rules to help make every item beautiful, both to look at and use.
About the Instructor
JoJo Wood is
one of the world's leading spoon carvers and is trained in the
critically endangered craft of clog making. She is a director
of a tool company, Wood Tools, with her father, Robin Wood MBE,
and co-founder of the social enterprise Pathcarvers. JoJo
has appeared in U.K. and international television and press,
spoken at conferences and events about design, her journey
through craft, and how our mental and physical well-being can be
improved through craft and making. JoJo has taught all over the
world and is really excited to be coming back to Lost Art Press.
