Water Resilience

Thu 26 Mar 2026 6:30 PM - 8:00 PM GMT Online, Zoom

How can we create water resilience on our land holdings? Join us as we dive into conversation with Nicola Greenall and Ian Davis to learn about their experiences of implementing water management strategies on the land they tend.

We’ll be exploring:

  • Why water “boom and bust” has become ingrained in many UK farm business approaches
  • Ideas to adapt your farm business approach to future water uncertainty
  • Why regenerative water resilience matters
  • Experiences of implementing ponds, swales and scrapes

Meet our speakers

Ian Davis - Ian farmed beef cattle and arable crops in Hertfordshire for 40 years alongside managing over 600 miles of river for flood risk and flood emergency response for 23 years. He is a chartered water and environment manager, member of the Institution of Environmental Sciences and regularly speaks on farming and water matters.

Nicola Greenall and Mark Bamford – With over 30 years of experience of living off-grid on the land, using permaculture principles and regenerative practices, Nic and Mark tend over 100 acres of farm and forestry on Cowal, Argyll.

We hope the experiences of our two speakers will spark a good conversation in the room. There'll be plenty of time for a chat so please do come prepared with any questions and curiosities about building water resilience in your own place.

Farm Cluster Connections aims to build a coordinated network of farmer clusters and facilitators across Scotland, to accelerate the exchange of knowledge, skills, and innovation in sustainable and regenerative agriculture. Farm Cluster Connections is funded by the Scottish Government's Knowledge Transfer Innovation Fund.
