Growing Food in Temperate Rainforest - forest gardening

Living in and growing food in the forest is an old tradition, even here in Scotland. Forest gardening is a way of tending the land and growing food that mimics the structure and resilience of a wild forest. Like a forest, the forest garden holds a diversity of plants in many layers, from the tall trees of the canopy to the shrubs and more shade tolerant plants of the forest floor.
Join us on our woodland croft to see how we are using this system to grow a variety of plants for food, coppice, herbs and to support local biodiversity and the restoration of temperate rainforest. We'll have a look around our site, get stuck into some practical tasks together and share some lunch.
Wear wellies or stout shoes and bring waterproofs. Lunch and refreshments provided.
