CPRE Countryside Day is a celebration of everything that is good about the countryside. Come and see for yourself how farming and nature and local people can work hand in hand in the Quantock Hills National Landscape.

For Countryside Day 2024, we are teaming up with the Quantock Hills National Landscape team and the Friends of the Quantocks to open up New Stowey Farm to visitors for the day. This 45 hectare County Farm has recently been passed to the Quantock Hills Team so they can manage it as a flagship of regenerative farming. This is an exciting opportunity to hear about the plans to transform the farm into a real life showcase of how we can grow food, improve the landscape, restore nature and benefit local people.

Enjoy a guided walk with the Quantock Hills Team

During the tour of the farm, we will meet Jess, the grazier and hear about plans for creating a community orchard, restoring woodland heath and re-wiggling the stream. We will also visit to the community woodland next door, run by Stowey Green Spaces Group. We expect the walk to take around 90 minutes.

What you need to know

Because this is a guided walk, we can only accommodate 30 people. All ages welcome. Pre-booking is essential.

The walk is not far and there are no stiles to climb but those with limited mobility may struggle on the uneven ground. Sturdy footwear recommended. Please contact us if you are in doubt and we will try to help.

Our Countryside Day event is free of charge but if you can give a donation to our charity to help cover admin costs, you would really make our day!
