The Big Conversation: could the Somerset Levels become our next National Park?

Thu 1 Oct 2026 7:30 PM - 9:30 PM Glastonbury Town Hall, BA6 9EL

CPRE , the Campaign to Protect Rural England, was at the forefront of the campaign to establish our UK National Parks, early in the 20th century. We’ve been fighting for better protection of our countryside for 100 years!

To mark CPRE’s centenary here in Somerset, we are thinking big. We want to start a conversation about our “big idea” of achieving National Park status for the Somerset Levels.
Join us for a lively evening looking at the special qualities of the Somerset Levels and exploring what National Park status might mean for our landscapes, people and nature.

CPRE Somerset President, Journalist and Broadcaster, Mariella Frostrup, will host the discussion and we have put together an inspiring panel of guests including CPRE, Somerset Wildlife Trust and Visit Somerset.

Come with an open mind and plenty of questions!

The event is FREE OF CHARGE but  we invite you to give a donation to CPRE Somerset to cover our costs and help support our charity.

All are welcome  - pre-book your tickets now.
