In Conversation with Richard Reeves and Nicholas Eberstadt

There has been much discussion recently of the UK’s economic inactivity problems. But what few people have pointed out is that the recent increase is almost entirely driven by men. For the first time, more young men than women are not in education, employment or training. Boys are consistently lagging girls in school. And rates of fatherless families are strikingly and shockingly high. In short, in today’s economy and society, it is increasingly young men rather than young women who are getting left behind.

To discuss this phenomenon - as well as the wider state of British and American society, and the impact of the Trump administration - the Centre for Policy Studies is delighted to be hosting an event on Monday 12 May with Richard Reeves and Nicholas N. Eberstadt, chaired by CPS Director Robert Colvile. Richard Reeves is President of the American Institute for Boys and Men, and author of ‘Of Boys And Men: Why the Modern Male Is Struggling, Why It Matters, and What to Do about It’. Nicholas N. Eberstadt is one of America’s leading writers on demographics and the author (among much else) of ‘Men Without Work: America’s Invisible Crisis’.

The event will take place on Monday 12 May, at Old Queen Street Cafe, and include an audience Q&A. Guests are welcome to join us from 13:30 for a light lunch before the event begins at 14:00, finishing at 15:00.
