Attention all budding photographers! CPW invites teens to attend an immersive, week-long workshop with artist and educator SETH DAVID RUBIN on how to make photographs using digital cameras. Students will discuss and explore working with photographic genres such as documentary and experimental, using a variety of studio and constructed image making methods, as well as through group field trips in and around the Hudson Valley. Students can bring their own digital cameras or we can provide one for them!

Surprising challenges will be presented and participants will have to work in unexpected ways. Regardless of past experience, this workshop will introduce participants at all skill levels to exciting approaches and techniques, and to making imagery that will develop their skills further and expand their visual language vocabulary. Participants will have access to professional digital photo equipment such as cameras and strobes, CPW’s photo studio, and will also utilize CPW’s state-of-the-art digital media lab.

All participants will receive a free one-year membership to the CPW digital media lab upon completion of this workshop to continue their creative endeavors.

WHAT TO BRING: A digital camera, if you have one you’d like to use. We will provide cameras to those who don’t have them. Also, students will need to bring their own lunch. CPW will provide pizza for lunch on Fridays. Healthy snacks will be provided free of charge.

TRANSPORTATION: For field trips, CPW will provide transportation. Teens under 18 will need a signed permission slip from parent or guardian.

*We strive to make our workshops and classes financially accessible while sustaining the resources needed to support our programs. Reduced-price tuition options are made possible in part through private donations, but primarily through the support of participants who are able to pay full tuition. By registering at the full rate, community members help create scholarship opportunities and expanded access for those who may not otherwise be able to participate.

When registering, we ask that you select the pricing level that best fits your current budget and reserve reduced tuition options for situations where they are truly necessary. These community-supported offerings are available on a first come, first served basis. If all reduced-price spots have been filled, please contact education@cpw.org to inquire about additional scholarship availability. We will always do our best to accommodate requests whenever possible.
