"Meet the Artist" with Lindsay Buchman and D'Angelo Lovell Williams

On Thursday, October 1, we welcome Lindsay Buchman and D’Angelo Lovell Williams (current Woodstock AIRs) to “Meet the Artist.” Buchman will present her long-term project, Everything I’ve Ever Loved, exploring Southern California’s landscape through fragmented narratives of race, place, and adoption. She will have copies of her books, Earth Sky Plant Ground (2026) and Stratagems (an overture) (third edition, 2025), available for sale throughout the evening. Williams will present an overview of their work and artistic practice.

Join us on select Thursday evenings at CPW, when we host illuminating talks with local and visiting artists. “Meet the Artist” allows the public to get to know new work, to hear about artistic processes, and to meet friends and other local artists. The evening takes place at CPW’s gallery at 25 Dederick Street in Kingston, NY. It is free and open to the public. Coffee, tea, and snacks are served.

Lindsay Buchman is an interdisciplinary artist whose work explores image-making and writing through print and lens-based media, artist books, and installation. Recent exhibitions include the Penumbra Foundation (NY), Center for Photography at Woodstock (NY), and the Wignall Museum of Contemporary Art (CA). Her work is in the collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the New York Public Library, and SFMOMA. She is a recipient of the Lighthouse Works Fellowship, the Flaherty Fellowship, and the Toby Devan Lewis Fellowship. Her residencies include Light Work, the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, and the Lower East Side Printshop. Buchman holds an MFA from the University of Pennsylvania and a BFA from California State University, Long Beach. She is an Assistant Professor of Photography at Hofstra University.

D’Angelo Lovell Williams (b. 1992, Jackson, Mississippi) is a New York–based artist whose multidisciplinary practice explores Black queer intimacy, kinship, desire, vulnerability, and self-authorship. Working across photography, video, weaving, and sculpture, Williams constructs staged and poetic encounters with friends, family, lovers, and collaborators, using gesture, touch, performance, landscape, and material to create spaces where fiction and lived experience intersect.

Williams received an MFA in Art Photography from Syracuse University and a BFA in Photography from Memphis College of Art. They are an alumnus of the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture and have participated in residencies including the Sharpe-Walentas Studio Program, ACRE, Fire Island Artist Residency and the Center for Photography at Woodstock.

Their work has been exhibited internationally, including at the Whitney Museum of American Art, Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Independent Art Fair, and Higher Pictures. Their work is held in the collections of Tate Modern, The Lumpkin-Bocuzzi Collection of Art, The Library of Congress, the Whitney Museum of American Art, LACMA, the Mississippi Museum of Art, and the Leslie-Lohman Museum of Art.

Williams is the author of Contact High (MACK Books, 2022), which was shortlisted for the Aperture Paris Photo First Photobook Award, and The Quick (2024), made in collaboration with artist Diedrick Brackens. They are a recipient of the Lotos Foundation Art Prize. Their work and writing have appeared in The New York Times, T: The New York Times Style Magazine, and other publications.
