Summer Solstice 2023

Summer Solstice Week 2023 is a week-long programme of events co-hosted by The Crawick Multiverse Trust and The Open University (Scotland).

Summer Solstice Week celebrations will take place on site at Crawick Multiverse, near Sanquhar in Dumfries and Galloway and in other local venues including schools, community halls and arts centres. During Summer Solstice Week visitors and members can visit any day of the week or choose to attend one or more of the ticketed events taking place throughout the week.

As well as a series of public events held on site a Crawick Multiverse, there is a separate programme of activities aimed at local primary and secondary schools and their teachers, supported by DYW Dumfries and Galloway.

Highlights…

SUNDAY 18TH JUNE - OVER THE MOON AT THE MULTIVERSE (10am-6pm) – tours, talks and family fun at Crawick Multiverse.

SUNDAY 18TH JUNE - SOLSTICE SEMINAR AT SANQUHAR TOWN HALL (5.45pm – 9pm) – Inaugural solstice seminar with talks and artefacts from professors in space science, planetary science, climate change and energy.

WEDNESDAY 21ST JUNE – SUMMER SOLSTICE DAY AT THE MULTIVERSE (4am – 6pm) – Sunrise Ceremony, tours, talks, workshops, demos, music, dance and Tilt Ceremony.

MIDSUMMER’S DAY PICNIC AT THE MULTIVERSE (10am – 6pm) - family fun and picnic at Crawick Multiverse

// Self-guided tours available throughout Summer Solstice Week

// Guided Tours are available on Sunday 18^th and Wednesday 21^st June (there is no additional cost for these tours, but booking is essential. Please purchase a day ticket for the day of your choice before booking a guided tour).

// During most of June, visitors can also meet Kelton, the wicker Belted Galloway.
