Classical by Design - Course

The course

The course is structured on two consecutive Saturdays over two weekends, the 6th and 13th February. During the first weekend, participants will trace the orders and learn the principles of classical composition. During the second weekend, participants will design a classical facade for a country house or a townhouse, putting their skills into practice.

The course is open to the general public, not only for architects. By the end of the course, participants will have a strong understanding of the rules of rules of classical architectural composition. This will give them a better understanding of their own built environment and heritage, while also helping them recognise the level of quality and detail to demand from architects, developers and urban planners.

This course is done in partnership between the Create Streets Foundation and the Traditional Architecture Group, as part of TAG and the CSF's educational activities.

When and where

• The course will take place over 2 Saturdays from 10:00 till 16:00 on Saturday 6th February and Saturday 13th February 2026.

• It will take place in Create Streets’ offices in central London at 81 Lambeth Walk SE11 6DX which is 8 minutes’ walk from Lambeth North Tube Station and 16 minutes’ walk from Vauxhall Station. It is also close to bus routes 3, 344, 360, 77, 507 and C10.

Practicalities

The course fee covers both days of the course.

Drawing supplies will be provided however students are free to bring their own. 

Tea, coffee, water and snacks will be provided but students should bring a packed lunch.
