Greening Your Creative Practice

Join Creative Frame for a practical and inspiring workshop as part of Climate Action Week 2026.

Facilitated by Catríona Fallon of Green Arts, Greening Your Creative Practice offers an accessible introduction to climate action in the arts and explores how sustainability can become a natural part of creative work. During this interactive 90‑minute online session, participants will share experiences, explore current developments in climate policy and funding, learn about the Green Arts Initiative Ireland and emerging opportunities for artists, and discuss real examples of sustainable creative practice.

The workshop includes plenty of practical guidance and advice — from understanding emissions, carbon budgets, travel policies, and energy‑saving approaches to considering materials and the mindset shift of “not just doing things differently, but doing different things.” Participants will gain clear, actionable insights into reducing environmental impact across areas such as travel, energy use, materials, and carbon awareness, while also exploring the unique role of the arts in shaping public understanding of climate action. This session aims to build confidence, spark ideas, and support a more sustainable approach to creative work.

This workshop is ideal for anyone looking to deepen their understanding of climate action, reduce the environmental impact of their practice, and connect with peers who are navigating similar questions.

More About the Facilitator

Catríona Fallon has worked in the Irish arts sector for more than 30 years, with experience spanning venue management, visual arts, festivals, sustainability, and climate action. She is the co-founder and lead coordinator of the Green Arts Initiative in Ireland (GAII), which supports arts organisations in reducing their environmental impact and responding to the climate emergency. Catríona has led pioneering projects including the Greening Venues, Greening Arts Centres, and Greener Touring initiatives. She has also worked extensively in community climate action projects and is a recognised advocate for embedding sustainability within both cultural practice and organisational development.Catríona has worked with Native Events and Julie's Bicycle EU supporting the Arts Council's climate action and Culture Ireland's Creative Climate Action projects. She has a particular interest in energy and climate adaptation.
