CKA Mixer: Mirror Deflections in Sculpture and Photography | Abigail Reynolds

Abigail Reynolds' kaleidoscope workshop will see you looking at the environment from new perspectives using mirrors, colour and light, collecting petals and seeds to make surprisingly beautiful reflected patterns, then using photography to capture some of the effects and images created. 

This workshop comes from Abigail's interest in other ways of looking beyond the present human body, as seen in her recent commission for Chatsworth House Anthronauts, a series of sculptures using mirror to deflect light and to deflect the look.

About Abigail

Reynolds uses montage techniques of layering and folding to destabilise singular ideas of cultural and political ecologies. She often works in dialogue with disciplines and places outside the art world; for example geologists, librarians, a silver band. She works across sculpture, print and film as well as creating events to bring disparate things into conversation. She works with a strong awareness of plurality; keeping a space complex and unreconciled.

Reynolds is well known for her work in collage, using dynamic forms of assembly to release the latent possibilities in photographs by cutting and folding. Another medium she often uses is glass - using it metaphorically to focus the act of looking and to suggest alternative modes of perception as well as simply to focus the light. To fold or layer historic images or events brings into focus our relation to time, making it possible to discern things that are almost completely lost.

This event is free for members of Creative Kernow Associates. There is a small fee of £5 for non-members, just to cover costs as the event is funded through membership fees.
