CKA Mixer: Slipware Tiles - Playing with Clay Surface | Clay Trap

Join us for a tile making and decorating workshop within the Clay Trap studio. Participants will learn about different traditions in tile making through the ages: from Medieval slipware to tiles in contemporary art and design. There will be a demonstration of a variety of surface design techniques before attendees design, make and decorate their own slipware tiles using the studio's wide spectrum of colourful clay slips and adding hand-modelled elements. This workshop will be a playful and open way for participants to explore the potential and possibilities of the medium.

About Clay Trap

Clay Trap is a ceramics studio in Helston, set within the CAST building. We provide well-equipped facilities for beginner and hobbyist potters, established artists and craftspeople to make with clay in open access sessions, courses, specialist workshops and through our membership programme.

On the day, CAST café will be open and workshop attendees will be able to purchase refreshments from them at their own cost.

Accessibility

Access to the studio will require attendees to be able to manage a couple of steps up into the studio. The loos and main building can be accessed via the main ramp at CAST but this is quite a steep diversion and still requires access to the studio via a couple of steps.

This event is free for members of Creative Kernow Associates. CKA members can find their code to book a free ticket on their members portal at associates.creativekernow.org.uk/my-account. There is a small fee of £5 for non-members, just to cover costs as the event is funded through membership fees.

Cancellation

Tickets cancelled before more than 7 days before the event will be fully refunded.

Tickets cancelled within 7 days of the event will be partially refunded (50%) and tickets cancelled within 24 hours of the event will not be refunded.
