Accounting for Creatives

Fri 24 Jul 2026 10:00 AM - 11:30 AM The Poly, 24 Church Street, Falmouth, TR11 3EG

Demystify the financial side of your art practice with Nikki Lonsdale, a licensed AAT accountant who is also a practising textile artist. Designed for artists, illustrators, and creative freelancers, this session offers a jargon-free look at basic bookkeeping, tax, and the new Making Tax Digital requirements and will be a great chance to get more confident with money and better understand the financial side of running a creative business.

Through real-world example handouts, Nikki breaks down key accounting concepts in a way that is easy to understand and apply to your own business.

There will be plenty of opportunities to ask questions throughout the session, and Nikki will stay in the café afterwards for short one-to-one queries. If you need more in-depth support, she can also advise on booking further time with her or point you towards additional resources.

This workshop is part of Built to Last: practical ways to sustain a creative practice - a series of workshops designed to help artists and creatives build a practice that is personally and financially sustainable. Led by local artists and people working in the Cornish creative and cultural sector, the sessions will explore how to build a resilient creative practice without compromising your fundamental focus or motivation. We are grateful to The Goldsmiths' Foundation for supporting this programme.
