Fun in the Forest (and Meadow!)
A nature play session for families with children aged between 2 and 11 years*. Come and explore a wildflower meadow and a beautiful ancient woodland. Take part in fun and creative hands-on activities, safely managed by a Forest School Leader.
First, we will head to the wildflower meadow to try and catch grasshoppers and other minibeasts.
Then we will head in to the woods, where there will be a choice of activities on offer. Children can dip in and out of whatever activities they choose to do.
Activities on offer will include:
- Making bow and arrows (to fire into the bushes, not at each other!)
- Rope swing
- Mud kitchen
- Bug hunting
- Campfire cooked popcorn
- Do your own thing - build a den, play hide-and-seek, balance on logs... the woodland is your play space for the morning.
All children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
*Older siblings are welcome to come and join in too. No charge for siblings under 2 years.

Can you catch a bug in a pot for a close look?

Cost:
Standard ticket: £10.50 per child
Supporter ticket: £12.50 per child (for those who are happy to pay a little more to subsidise a place for those who can’t afford to pay the standard price)**
Discounted ticket: £6.50 per child (for those who paying the full cost would currently prevent them from attending)
**The idea behind 'pay it forward' systems like this is to do acts of kindness which will have a positive effect on others, and in return the recipients are just asked to pass on the good deed to keep the cycle going.
What to bring:
- Drinks and snacks for your morning (bread and marshmallows will be provided)
- Wellies are the best footwear. Trainers are ok after periods of dry weather.
- Please come dressed in long trousers and long-sleeved tops, to protect yourselves from ticks.
- It’s probably cooler in the woods than where you live, so bring extra warm layers and waterproofs if rain is forecast.
Location:
Hazel Hill Wood, Hazel Hill Wood, Grimstead Road, near Farley, Salisbury, SP5 1AU.
