Shifting Horizons Tuesday Volunteering Sessions (Tuesday 28th July - Tuesday 8th September)

Shifting Horizons is a weekly programme for people aged 16-35 in Stirling, offering volunteering, creative, media, cooking, and life-skills sessions in a supportive and inclusive environment. The project is designed to build confidence, reduce isolation, and improve wellbeing, particularly for those facing barriers to participation or from marginalised backgrounds. Sessions run once a week and provide a welcoming space to learn new skills, connect with others, and take part in positive, hands-on activities.

Programme timetable (28th July - 8th September)

Tuesday 28th July 2-5pm: Media with Ryan

Ryan will be joining us to do learn some new media skills. You will get to test out our brand new cameras for the CAMM course, learn about video podcasting and create some content.

Tuesday 4th August 2-5pm: Media with Ryan

Continuing with some media skills with Ryan, developing content and learning about film and screen skills opportunities through CAMM.

Tuesday 11th August:  Group Off
Huge apologies, but we will be unable to run the group on Tuesday 11th of August, due to another commitment.

Tuesday 18th August 2-4pm: Mental Health and Wellbeing with Action in Mind & Wellbeing Jars
Local organisation Action in Mind are going to join us to deliver a session around mental health and wellbeing. It’s a great opportunity to learn about the services they offer, and learn how techniques to look after your mental health and wellbeing. Following our session with Action in Mind, let’s make some wellbeing jars with affirmation, prompts for self care, kind messages from one another.

Tuesday 25th August 2-5pm: Procreate & Project Work

Let’s re-fresh what we learned with David Galletly and make some artwork around online safety, as part of our project work.

Tuesday 1st September 2-5pm: Small Business Basics
In this session, we will learn about starting your own creative business and small business basics. This includes branding, products, tax, social media, etc.

Tuesday 8th September 2-5pm: Upcycling and clothing repairs

An open session where we will have sewing machines, hand sewing materials, fabrics, patches, fabric pens, and other materials for upcycling/repairing old clothes. Bring some clothes to work on.
