Take a Seat: Identity Collage Chair Workshop with Little Pink Dog

Join artist Fran/ Little Pink Dog for a creative and welcoming day of exploring identity, belonging and representation through collage and decoupage.
Together, we'll begin by thinking about what makes us who we are, the communities we belong to, and the things that are important to us. Using collage, images, colour, text and discussion, participants will develop ideas inspired by their own experiences, interests and identities.
You'll then transform a chair into a unique piece of art that tells your story. Through painting, collage and decoupage techniques, you'll create a chair that reflects who you are and what matters to you. No previous artistic experience is needed, and all materials and guidance will be provided.
This workshop is part of Defining Spaces, a project exploring inclusion, identity and belonging. The chair acts as a symbol of having a seat at the table, a reminder that everyone deserves to be seen, heard and represented wherever decisions are made. Through creativity, we'll explore what it means to claim space, celebrate difference and make room for every voice. The day will finish with an opportunity to reflect on the work created, share ideas with the group, and celebrate the stories and perspectives represented in each chair.
The finished artworks will become part of a public exhibition during Anti-Bullying Week in November, celebrating identity, kindness and the importance of creating spaces where everyone belongs.
Who is it for?
This workshop is part of our Defining Spaces project (funded by Youth Arts Open Fund) and is designed with and for young people aged 13-25 who have experienced discrimination, marginalisation, or other challenges and barriers. The project aims to create opportunities for participants to develop new skills, connect with others, deepen their understanding of equality, and build the confidence to thrive.
