An Evening of Creative Wilding
A collaborative painting & sketchbook-making evening

Part of Farnham Creators Network's October Craft Month. A programme of workshops, exhibitions and creative happenings celebrating making across the town.

There's something that happens when a group of people gather around one big sheet of paper, with music playing and no pressure to get anything "right." Guards come down, shoulders drop and  creative play takes over and conversation and creativity flow.

That's what this evening is.

We'll begin with a large collaborative painting - everyone contributing to one shared piece, using music and simple stimuli on the table to explore line, shape, mark and colour. It's relaxed, sociable, and a brilliant leveller: no experience needed, no wrong moves, nothing to prove.

Then comes the lovely part. That shared painting becomes your raw material. You'll use it to make your own handmade sketchbook as the  painted cover, and then we'll add some pages inside. We'll then work on the pages inside using mark-making, painting, layering texture and preparing them, talking about breaking the blank page so it never feels intimidating again! 
And if there's time we'll start to use them.  

This evening is for you if:

• You enjoy being creative and love spending your time making things
• You used to be creative and want to find your way back to it
• You want a relaxed evening away from a screen - to forget the outside world for a little while
• You love the idea of making something with your hands, with no pressure to be "good"
• You've always wanted to keep a sketchbook but never known how to start

No experience necessary. All materials provided. Just bring yourself.

Creative Wilding™ is a term coined by Suzanne Booth and is about reconnecting with the creativity that's innate in all of us, without rules, judgement or pressure. Suzanne Booth is based in Church Crookham and is textile designer, maker, and former teacher who is passionate about creativity and supports other creative business owners through her craft business strategy work alongside workshops and creative practise.
