Crilli DNB Presents DJ Hype (Playaz Recordings)

Crilli rounds off 2026 with one of the True Playaz of jungle and drum and bass: DJ Hype.

World-renowned as a DJ, producer, radio presenter, A&R and record label manager, Hackney bred Kevin Ford aka DJ Hype was at the forefront of the UK rave scene in the mid-90s when he made some of jungle's biggest anthems, including "Roll Da Beats", "You Must Think First" and "Peace, Love and Unity".

As a DJ, Hype is renowned not only for his selection skills but also his mixing and turntable mastery, famously incorporating scratching, beat juggling and acapellas into his DJ sets. He is probably your favourite DJ's favourite jungle DJ and the sheer volume of old Kiss FM radio shows and tape pack mixes available online are testament to how highly regarded he is within the history of the scene.

Hype and his labels True Playaz, Ganja and Playaz have taken him around the world alongside label mates Pascal and DJ Zinc, and the outlets have released many of DJ Zinc and later DJ Hazard's most well known tracks amongst many others. Playaz as a brand also held down a 15+ year Friday night residency at London club Fabric and the label continues to run occasional parties at the venue.

It goes without saying that this is a massive one. We hope you’re every bit as excited as we are to welcome DJ Hype back to Belfast for his first set in the city in over 20 years. Hype in the mix!
