Sculpt the City

Sat Oct 24, 2026 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM 113 Taranaki Street, Te Aro, Wellington

How can we understand the risks facing our city and imagine how it might become more resilient?

In this hands-on workshop, participants will use air-dry modelling clay to create three-dimensional interpretations of parts of the city. Through shaping the clay, participants will explore places of vulnerability, strength, connection, and adaptation. You’ll gain new insights into scale, design, and the ways we interpret our shared environment.

No artistic experience is needed. The workshop offers a creative and collaborative way to think about how people experience risk and what a more resilient city might look like.

The clay city model of the Wellington CBD you help create will be a central reference point throughout the Critical Signals series. Please note that conversations during the workshop will be audio recorded to support ongoing research into how people understand place, risk, and resilience in the city.
