Women & Transport

This event is the third in a series of meetings on the topic of transport and inequalities by the Scottish Parliament Cross Party Group on Sustainable Transport.

The session will focus on gender inequalities in transport and how to make Scotland's transport network work better for everyone. We will hear about the challenges facing women and girls in transport, including issues related to safety, services that don’t align with their travel needs, and the under-representation of women in transport frontline and decision-making roles.

We're delighted to be joined by:

  • Catherine Heeney, Transport Scotland, on the safety of women & girls on public transport
  • Heather Williams, Scottish Women's Budget Group, on the role of gender budgeting in tackling inequalities in transport

Speaker presentations will be followed by time for discussion with a Q&A segment.

For details on the CPG's activities and previous meetings, see here.

Note: This is a hybrid event. Please book a space either in-person (at the Scottish Parliament) or online (via Teams).
