OVERVIEW

Title: Creating an Antiracist 'Rule of Life': A Lenten Series

Description:

As we approach Lent, we know that people are frazzled, stressed, and urgently looking to act in antiracist ways. However, under distress we often revert to our default conditioning, which tends to be rooted in racism and other forms of oppression that we’ve internalized. Therefore, we must ‘re-habituate’ ourselves, rooted in antiracist values. This will help sustain us in discerning how to act in antiracist ways towards antiracist goals.

Come join Crossroads for a time of creating an ‘Antiracist Rule of Life,’ rooted in Ignatian Spirituality and Crossroads’ own analysis. This will be a three-part series, in which we will spend March 3rd 12-2pm CT getting in touch with our values, learning a bit about Ignatian Spirituality, and crafting our own ‘Rule of Life.’ This ‘Rule of Life’ will include creating daily, weekly, monthly, and annual habits, as well as choosing grounding questions for us to utilize throughout Lent. Then every Wednesday in Lent from 12-12:30pm CT we will come back together for a casual time of doing a communal Examen. We will then finish on Wednesday, April 16th from 12-2pm CT for a time of reflection on how our Rule of Life went.

Considering the current attack on DEI efforts, we ask as a Lenten offering, to share gratitude for the work of Crossroads with however much you’d like to donate.

This series will be informed by Ignatian Spirituality (a Catholic spirituality founded by Ignatius of Loyola) but all people are welcomed to join, as creating regular habits, practices, and rhythms can benefit us all! Please email anna.stamborski@crossroadsantiracism.org with any questions.

Schedule Dates:

  • Opening Session: Monday, March 3rd: 12-2pm CT
  • After that every Wednesday 12-12:30 CT
  • Closing Session: Wednesday, April 16th 12-2pm CT
