Recording | Coffee with Crossroads: Creation as Sustenance & Resistance - A conversation with Sherita Love

This fall, Crossroads Transitional Executive Director Jessica Vazquez Torres will sit down with artists, musicians, writers, painters, and creatives of all kinds for honest, informal conversations over coffee — live for the Crossroads network. With her guests, Jessica will explore creativity as a source of sustenance and fuel for resistance. Each session will have three outcomes:

• Hear the guest's story and creative journey
• Explore how creativity awakens their imagination
• Talk about why imagination is essential to the work of justice

These aren't polished presentations.  They're real conversations about what it takes to imagine — and fight for — a more just world.

SEPTEMBER 17TH: Imagination in Motion with Sherita Love

On September 17th, Jessica Vazquez Torres, Transitional Executive Director of Crossroads, sat down for an intimate conversation with Sherita Love—community organiser, educator, advocate for kids, and dancer in St. Louis's vibrant urban line dancing community.

This is the second conversation on our fall series exploring imagination as fuel for justice work. Sherita shares her journey back to dance after loss and illness, breaks down what urban line dancing actually is (hint: it's not what you're picturing), and reflects on how movement, community, and choreography have shaped her work as an organizer and advocate.

Together, Jessica and Sherita explore the healing power of dance, the process of turning a spark of an idea into a fully realized creation, and why making space for imagination — even when it's dismissed as "soft" — is essential, not optional, in the work of building a more just world.
