On 1 January 2024, families from in and around Crowthorne, Sandhurst, Bracknell and surrounding towns in Berkshire will once again have the opportunity to start the New Year with our New Year’s Day Family Walk, which is a flat, two-mile route through woods on the estate of the independent school, Wellington College, on Dukes Ride, Crowthorne, RG45 6DP.
Limited refreshments available this year.
This year please note that unfortunately Bacon Rolls will not be available for sale as in previous years and only limited refreshments available to our walkers.
The walk is open from 10:30 through to 14:00 however with last access to the walk at 1.30 pm.
There is again a free Children's Trail Quiz designed to keep the younger ones engaged and hopefully entertained whilst on the walk with you. The theme of this year’s children’s trail is Children's Films.
Walkers with dogs on leads are welcome as always however as necessary please clean up after your dogs and note walking shoes or wellies are recommended, particularly if it rains the previous evening.
In the event of particularly adverse weather, walkers are advised to keep an eye on the Club’s website and Facebook page for any updates It is also buggy-friendly and an alternative route available for wheelchairs and mobility scooters.
Funds raised from the walk will be donated to our designated charities, and particularly this year Thames Valley Air Ambulance. Rotary club members and volunteers organize the event. Previous recipients of donations from the Rotary club from proceeds of the event have included Alexander Devine Children's Hospice in Maidenhead, DEBRA in Bracknell, Sebastian's Action Trust Crowthorne facility and Thames Valley Hospice in Windsor.
