The Premodern Crucible

This event is a Premodern format Magic: The Gathering event with cash prizes and a Trophy, that takes place on June 5th 2027 at The Great Hall in Reading University.

The aim is to be the biggest Premodern tournament in the UK to date with a cap of 180 players, as well as being the qualifier for the European Legacy Masters event for 2027. The number of European Premodern Masters Qualifier spots will scale with attendance from 2 to 16 places. See their webiste for more details: premodernmasters.org/

This event will be Proxy friendly, however your proxies must be: full colour reproductions of existing cards; so no custom art and borders. They must also not be detectable among your deck as marked cards. Final discretion on proxies will be down to the head judge, you can ask them before the event starts if you have any concerns.

The event will take place on June 5th 2027 at The Great Hall at Reading University. This venue is wheelchair accessible and has approximately 100 free car parking spaces whilst being walkable from Reading train station. The tournament will be run as competitive REL with a cut to top 8 and there will be a trophy for the winner of the event as well as cash prizes.

WeBuyAnyCard will be the trader at the event. Their website can be found here: webuyanycard.co.uk/

Coverage of the event will be recorded and posted to my channel with commentary shortly after: youtube.com/@crucible_of_words

This is a non-profit event on my part as the organizer, the only thing I am getting from organizing is giving myself a free ticket to the event, every penny from ticket sales goes into costs and prizes, for which I will be posting a full financial breakdown for. If the money raised does not split evenly among players awarded prizes, left over money will be donated to a charity. Prize breakdown based on tickets sold will be announced before the event begins.

For this event to fire, we require 100 people minimum, so please buy your tickets as soon as possible so the deposit on the venue can be paid (venue currently on hold for me). If the event fails to fire, all payments will be fully refunded. If you have any questions, please get in touch.
