The death of a baby is unfortunately very common (more than 13 a day) and such an event will often have a devastating impact on the whole family. The grief that follows for each family member is a grief that stays with them for life and changes them in a way they never imagined. Frustratingly for those bereaved families, it's a taboo subject and the rest of society seem to carry on, not able or not wanting to empathise with what they have been through.
This session aims to raise awareness of what this experience is like for families and the uniqueness of their grief journey compared with other kinds of bereavement. There will be a practical focus on what they need to be able to grieve more effectively for themselves and the things we can do to support them as professionals.
