Celebrate 50 years of live jazz excellence with supergroup Spyro Gyra on August 24th

In 2024, Jay Beckenstein and band observe the 50th anniversary of Spyro Gyra! They will close out the Jazz In The Vines™ series on August 24 at Jamesport Vineyards. What started as a diversion, something that was just for fun (and twenty-five cents at the door) turned into a decades-long entertainment phenomenon. It all began when Beckenstein and a few musician friends in Buffalo NY organized a get-together in 1974. Fast forward 50 years and this jazz supergroup has released over 30 albums, garnering gold and platinum along the way. They’ve played over 10,000 concerts on six continents. Spyro Gyra has maintained its standards of excellence and that has sustained them on the “A list” of live attractions in jazz for 50 years.

NOTE: The show takes place outdoors on the back lawn of the winery, protected from the elements under a large open-sided tent — next to acres of wine-producing grapes! Rain or shine. Tickets are non-refundable, but may be given to others to use. The timing for Jazz In The Vines shows is 7:00-9:00 PM. The performers play a 90-minute set and then usually greet guests and sign merchandise for 30 minutes afterward.
