We are delighted to invite you to the CSSAH EDI Celebration Event, taking place on Wednesday 8 July from 10:30am to 2:30pm in Sir Bob Burgess Building, Room 0.02

The event will include:

  • The launch of CSSAH’s EDI Constitution
  • Networking opportunities with colleagues from across the College
  • A talk from our guest speaker, Dr Javeria Khadija Shah, SFHEA, University of London

    'Race Equality in Practice: Beyond Policy, Towards Belonging'

    Biography:
    Dr Javeria Khadija Shah, SFHEA is a Senior Lecturer in Education and Inclusion with over twenty years of experience across further and higher education. Her scholarship centres on race equity, decolonisation, belonging, and the relationship between policy, practice, and lived experience. She is the originator of the Ecology of Whiteness theoretical framework. She has led institution-wide initiatives spanning teaching and learning, equality and inclusion, curriculum development, staff development, and institutional strategy, and has delivered keynote presentations, training and consultancy for schools, colleges, universities, local authorities, and cultural organisations. She is Founding Director of SUFIYANA™, a social enterprise advancing cultural wellbeing, creative empowerment and community transformation. Her publications include work in the Routledge Handbook of Critical Studies in Whiteness, Imposed Identities and British Further Education, and the My Name Is project. Javeria’s practice integrates research, leadership and creativity in pursuit of environments where people genuinely belong.
