Culture for Climate Scotland is working with Turning the Tide, FablevisionCreative Renfrewshire, University of West Scotland and RENCAN on SPRINGBOARD local assembly: Renfrewshire. At this local urban lab we will explore different themes that connect cultural and climate action in Renfrewshire.

SPRINGBOARD brings together artists, makers, cultural and sustainability organisations, climate workers, activists, local businesses, third-sector organisations and anyone interested in collaborating to form powerful local networks for creative climate action. Local assemblies are an opportunity to connect with other practitioners in your region to address climate change collectively. The events are for anyone working or volunteering in the climate or environmental sector, the arts, screen, creative industries, museums, heritage and libraries.

Tea and coffee is provided. Lunch will be provided.

On the agenda

  • Examples of good practice in collaborative planning and sustainable place making with Refractive and Marlene Zylstra (UWS), who leads on activating Paisley’s stalled spaces as creative spaces.
  • Examples of good practice in health and wellbeing with Sculpture House, Remode and Sewing 2gether All Nations
  • Upcoming opportunities and funding information from Culture for Climate Scotland, Renfrewshire Climate Action Network, One Renfrewshire and the Turning the Tide project.
  • Mapping of Renfrewshire's cultural and ecological assets with artist Jamie Wardrop and Renfrewshire Climate Action Network
  • Collective visioning for 2050 Renfrewshire, facilitated by Stefania Duricova (doctoral researcher at UWS and independent curator).
  • Film screenings by artists Robyn Woolston and Jamie Wardrop.

About Turning The Tide

For this assembly in Renfrewshire, we are collaborating with the Turning the Tide project. Fablevision is the Scottish partner in a large-scale Creative Europe project, Turning the Tide, a collaboration of five cities and six countries using cultural planning methodology to work with socially engaged artists. The project partners, headed by Intercult in Sweden, are leading an international experiment – interrogating the possible contribution of artists and local people to transforming the narrative on climate change and climate justice. Partners are now engaged in local activity with locally based artists and cross sectoral partnerships exploring themes in their own locations.

Do you need support to attend?

Everyone is welcome at our events.

We know that it’s sometimes difficult for everyone to attend because of unintended barriers. We want to make any necessary adjustments to our events so that no one is excluded. These adjustments will, most likely, differ from event to event and person to person, so we need your help to get it right. Please inform us of your accessibility requirements for this event during the Ticket Tailor registration process or get in touch by emailing sarah.ohare@cultureforclimate.scot if you would like to provide more information or ask any questions. You’ll understand that some adjustments may take more time to arrange than others, so we appreciate you giving us as much notice as possible about what you need so that we can support you to get the most out of this event. Please see our Safe working statement for more information.
