Sea Change – Buckie: Come and paint Buckie's new mural!

Come and help paint a new mural in Buckie with scenes of the coast and sea around the town. All are welcome to join in.
The mural is being painted by artist Mark Faulkner as part of the Sea Change project. He has created a unique design based on workshops with people in Buckie where we explored our relationship with our environment and the past and future of the town. The mural will also help brighten up the old toilet block building and create a new attraction in the town centre.
We are looking for volunteers to come and take part in the painting. No artistic experience is required and there are lots of different ways to get involved. Wear clothes that you don’t mind getting a little paint on and bring a pair of work gloves if you have some. All other equipment and paint will be provided.
Here’s a rough schedule of what will be happening on each day. You are welcome to join in at any point between 10am and 2pm each day for as long as you like.
- Monday 28 September: We will clean and prime the wall, and map out initial shapes.
- Tuesday 29 September: We will continue mapping out shapes, and start laying down colour if we have time.
- Wednesday 30 September: We will fill in the main block colours and begin working into some detail.
- Thursday 1 October: We will work further into the mural, adding detail.
- Friday 2 October: We will add final detail and finishing touches.
If you are thinking of coming, please take a moment to let us know using the link so we know how many people to expect.
Accessibility, health and safety
The mural painting will be accessible for people to participate in lots of different ways. We want to make sure that we can accommodate people, so please let us know when signing up if you have any access requirements.
For safety, no one is to work on the ladder except the artists. Please don't overexert yourself, and avoid taking risks, particularly with lifting heavy items. This mural site is intended to be a safe space. Anyone who behaves inappropriately toward another volunteer, misuses equipment, or knowingly puts themselves or others in danger will be asked to leave.
