Thriving Tomorrow was a pilot project which explored the topic of climate change in ex-mining areas through the medium of community arts. This closing event for the project is an opportunity to hear about what we did, discover what we learned and speak with the organisers about what comes next.
At this closing event, project organisers will:
- Share creative work produced by project participants
- Screen a short film about the Pathfinders Parade, a key event during the project
- Explain how the project worked and what we learned from it
- Convene discussion about how learning from the project can be carried forward
About the project:
Thriving Tomorrow was organised by Culture for Climate Scotland with artist Frank McElhinney, the Northern Corridor Community Volunteers and Cardowan Community Meadow. Over the last nine months, we have been working in the Northern Corridor area of North Lanarkshire running creative events and activities that explored climate issues in the area and what was needed to address them.
A key theme that emerged was around active travel infrastructure, which we will explore in detail at this event.
Come along to hear about Thriving Tomorrow and share your ideas: all are welcome, and refreshments will be provided!
Do you need support to attend?
Culture for Climate Scotland is committed to ensuring that our events are welcoming and accessible for everyone. We value the diversity of our communities and the different experiences, identities and perspectives that people bring, including disability, race, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, religion, economic status or caring responsibility.
We will make all possible adjustments to our events so that no one is excluded. These adjustments will, most likely, differ from event-to-event and person-to-person, so we need your help to get it right.
Some adjustments may take more time to arrange than others, so we appreciate you giving us as much notice as possible about what you need so that we can support you to get the most out of this event.
Please inform us of your accessibility requirements for this event during the registration process. If you have any questions or concerns, please send an email to lewis.coenenrowe@cultureforclimate.scot or telephone +44 (0)131 243 2760 and speak to a member of staff.
This pilot project forms part of a fellowship with the Alliance for Socially Engaged Arts being undertaken by Lewis Coenen-Rowe, culture/SHIFT Manager. He is also devoting time to research, study visits and conversations with experts. If you are interested in getting involved or speaking about this topic, please email lewis.coenen-rowe@cultureforclimate.scot.
