Bark! + Sylvia & I + Ali Robertson

We are excited to welcome back Bark! who last played for us in 2013. Comprised of Rex Caswell on guitar, Philip Marks on percussion and Paul Obermayer on sampler, the gig 11 years ago is one of my all time Curious Ear favourites and as the musicians now live in the UK, Portugal and Denmark its really special to be able to see them perform together.

They will be joined on the night by the sounds of Sylvia & I. A duo of Sylvia Hallett(who I first saw performing 20 years at Dan Weaver’s Alectro-Ecoustic night at Bar Centro on Tib Street; playing bicycle wheel and violin which totally opened a few doors for my imagination) and Chris Dowding on trumpet they use loops and layers to improvise music using violins, trumpets, bowed saw, bicycle wheel, pedals, electronics and more…

Finally we are really happy that Edinburgh native Ali Robertson is visiting us on his first post Usurper tour. I’ve been lucky enough to a see a number of Ali’s solo outings in the last few years which have variously involved cat litter, scrambling coins, asking audience members kids to ask them how much the earn and contact microphones. His work is always really fun and picks at the awkward spot. As much stand up as music, his live sets are not to be missed!
