Description
SUNNY DAYS: A Triptych Play
By Reina Hardy
Directed by Terrence Mayfield
Sunny Days is a triptych play that follows a fictionalized version of Sesame Street called ABC City through three points in time. The first act takes place in Kosovo in 2004, where two ABC City representatives meet with Serbian and Albanian filmmakers to create a show together, despite centuries of resentment and the sound of gunfire outside the window. The second act brings us to Trump-era Texas, where ABC City visits the Hutto Immigrant Detention Center. Finally, the third act takes us a few miles inland from what was once Philadelphia, now underwater, where a young girl searches for the mythical ABC City in the post climate apocalypse. A workshop production by Ego Death Theatre Collective.
Venue Notes: Chicago Dramatists is located at 1105 W Chicago Ave, in the River West neighborhood. Street parking tends to be difficult in the area — plan to take public transit or a hired car if possible, or plan extra time to locate parking. (Apps such as ParkWhiz and SpotHero can often help you find a paid spot nearby.) The Chicago Blue Line station exits within one block of the venue. The venue's entrance is at 798 N Aberdeen Ave (if you see Big Shoulders Coffee, walk around to the other side of the building). The theater space is on the first floor, with a wheelchair-accessible entrance and two accessible bathrooms. Beverages will be available in the lobby before shows begin.
