Comet — Rhino Fest 2024
Multiple dates and times
Chicago Dramatists, 60642
Description
When an approaching comet threatens Earth, a small group of astronomers grapple with the question: warn the world, or keep silent?
The team of astronomers at the Minor Planet Center are not used to such questions. Typically, their work acts as the worldwide repository of information about comets, asteroids, and other natural satellites. However, they also serve an important purpose, one preoccupied with planetary defense; if an asteroid or comet ever threatens Earth, the Minor Planet Center will be the first to raise the alarm.
Comet envisions a scenario where an event like this occurs, leaving the Minor Planet Center to grapple with the choice of sharing the news with the world, or concealing it. Comet explores how everyone deals with extreme circumstances in their unique ways and what it takes to bear the weight of decisions that affect those we love the most.
