Transforming Tensions
Have you ever found yourself perplexed by a team member’s (in)actions? Or walked away from a disagreement feeling like you were on different planets despite the best intentions? In these moments, the standard advice of “communicate more” or “be respectful” often falls short.
While avoiding buzzwords rendered almost meaningless, we’ll get to the heart of the matter – transforming tensions around our differences into opportunities for connection and growth. We’ll explore dynamic continuums of difference that help make sense of challenges without putting people in boxes. You’ll learn new ways of connecting and creating shared understanding, whether with a colleague, friend, neighbor, boss, team, or organization.
Toolkit Workshop (Stand-alone Sampler)
Do you like adding more tools to your toolkit? This one hour session shares highlights of models covered in the full Transforming Tensions series, including:
- Transforming Tensions Process
- Continuums of Difference
- Intercultural Conflict Styles Model
Facilitated by: Sara A. Clark of Curious Ways
Pre-work: Think about a situation with another person that you would like to improve and it hasn’t been resolved on its own. This could be someone with whom you are frustrated, upset, or confused, AND that you are willing to reflect on and engage.
As a result of this program, you will be able to:
- Apply a process for transforming tension to your life
- Map an interpersonal conflict onto the Intercultural Conflict Styles Model
- Engage resources for learning more about continuums of difference
This workshop can be taken alone or in combination with Bridging Differences & Overcoming Polarization and/or Engaging Conflict Across Cultures & Power Differences, which both offer deeper dives into the content through interactive and dialogue-based workshops.
