SECOND SUNDAYS : A creative workshop series
A space for hands-on workshops, fresh ideas, and new hobbies. Come along and meet a community of curious creatives - every month, on the second Sunday.
April - Still Life Drawing with Ink, with Blithe Fielden
In this two hour workshop, led by illustrator Blithe Fielden, you'll explore still life drawing through play, shape, texture and imperfection, using only black ink, water and paintbrushes.
You'll work from a shared still life arrangement, mark-making with different brushes, working wet-on-wet and wet-on-dry, and embracing scratchy lines, running out of ink marks, imperfections and wobbles. At the end of the workshop, you'll leave with at least one finished artwork, suitable for framing, as well as a collection of experimental studies you can reuse for collage and digital experimentations.
Your ticket includes:
◦ A fully-led two hour workshop
◦ All materials provided
◦ Soft drinks and nibbles (BYO allowed!)
Blithe is an illustrator based in Brisbane. She believes everyone has creativity within them and strives to show that art doesn't have to feel overwhelming. Her work celebrates experimentation, imagination, and the joy of approaching illustration in a fun, accessible way, proving that you don't have to be "an artist" to be creative. Reading and writing on the unceded land of the Turrbal and Yuggera peoples. We respect and acknowledge Elders past and present, and all First Nations storytellers. Every story on our shelves sits alongside the world’s oldest living stories, reminding us that stories are not just read, but also lived and passed on.
