For August, we're reading Charles Dickens' penultimate (and arguably greatest) novel, GREAT EXPECTATIONS.

Dickens's funny, frightening and tender portrayal of the orphan Pip's journey of self-discovery, is one of his best-loved works. Showing how a young man's life is transformed by a mysterious series of events - an encounter with an escaped prisoner; a visit to a black-hearted old woman and a beautiful girl; a fortune from a secret donor - Dickens's late novel is a masterpiece of psychological and moral truth, and Pip among his greatest creations.

Join us at our bi-monthly classics bookclub, tackling a classic you might not have read since school.

Your ticket includes small batch, natural sodas from Mischief Brew and snacks, and a $2 donation to Literacy For Life, a First Nations-run charity training local people to deliver literacy classes in their communities.

Your ticket does not include the book.
Classics club picks will have 10% off in store for the month before the meet-up - we'll likely have a couple of different editions, but you can take your pick. Pop in to choose your favourite.

If you prefer audiobooks, there's a list on Libro.fm of our book club picks.

Book club tickets are non-refundable. 10% off runs for the month preceding the meet-up. Store gift cards cannot be used for events (yet!).

Reading and writing on the unceded land of the Turrbal and Yuggera peoples. We respect and acknowledge Elders past and present, and all First Nations storytellers. Every story on our shelves sits alongside the world’s oldest living stories, reminding us that stories are not just read, but also lived and passed on.
