This workshop is open to CHAS staff only.
A one day intensive workshop for newly qualified practitioners, non-clinical staff and volumteers working within CHAS.
Overview
Having difficult conversations can be daunting. This immersive and interactive session will equip staff with the confidence and skills to have better conversations when handling challenging and sensitive conversations.
Learning Outcomes
- Handling strong emotions such as anger, emotional distress and sadness
- Understand normal psychological reactions when facing difficult situations
- Know yourself better by increasing your self awareness
- Identify personal learning objectives and develop strategies for addressing these within a supported peer group
- Increase your communication effectiveness
This communication course will not only increase your emotional resilience but also your job satisfaction.

Laura Heggan
Laura is the Lead Nurse for Children's Palliative Care Education at Children's Hospices Across Scotland. Laura joined the EC4H Tutor Team in 2021.
Lynsey Grant
Lynsey is a Quality and Education Nurse working in Children's Hospices Across Scotland. Lynsey completed her EC4H Tutor Training in 2024.
Derek Jolly
Derek is an Advanced Nurse Practitioner in Paediatric Palliative Care working within Children's Hospices Across Scotland. Derek joined the EC4H Tutor Team in 2024.
