How can artists and galleries use affordable technologies to create ambitious moving-image and interactive artworks without compromising artistic ambition or ethics?
The artists Anna Bunting-Branch, Danielle Brathwaite-Shirley, Kinnari Saraiya and Aliyah Hussain (A-GEN-C), and Bahar Noorizadeh (The Showroom), combine technologies ranging from computer vision and digital manufacturing to game engines, motion capture, video editing and in-app cinematography with traditional practices such as painting, drawing, sculpture and embroidery, expanding the possibilities of contemporary artistic production.
Privately funded producer and commissioner Helen Starr presents an open-book budget session exploring a critical question: Can affordable, ethical technologies reduce production costs, challenge our dependence on Big Tech and redirect more funding towards artists and institutions
