Mugs and cups - taster course

This short introductory workshop will focus on one of your kitchen tableware essentials- mugs and cups. Suitable for complete beginners. 

Chris will take you through the basics of wheel throwing your mug - learning how to centre the clay, hollow it out, and form a mug shape of your choice. You will be able to make a handle if required (which we will attach for you later once the mug has firmed up). 

Fiona will show you how to build another mug or beaker by hand, with or without a handle- using the technique of slab building. The slabs will be prepped in advance so they are at the right consistency. We have templates you can use. These can be decorated with coloured slips or a little texture. 

Depending on time, you will be able to make 2-4 cups each. 

We will then trim the thrown pots, add their handles, fire everything and glaze ready for collection a few weeks later. 

£60 per person, inclusive of preparation, materials, firing and finishing.
