Get ready to add an exciting new prop to your Global Caravan group improv dance: Cane!

Interestingly, most "tribal" groups do NOT perform with the cane...which Misha feels is a real loss as it's such a classic and folksy aspect of Middle Eastern Dance. It pairs so beautifully with many of our steps, and she is absolutely thrilled to bring this prop forward to combine with our beloved GC dance!

Our dance journey will include an exploration of two fundamental "bellydance" cane forms: Raqs Assaya, the traditional Egyptian dance with a stick (modernized for the stage with a cane), and Tahtib, an Egyptian stick-fighting martial art. We will work with GC moves you know, and some you might not, together with movements Misha has curated and adapted that come from Raqs Assaya and Tahtib to create unique and fabulous moves for you to use in your dance.

You'll come away with:

* an understanding of how this classic prop has been used in dance (because history is the root of our dance and it is important to understand the footsteps you are following in!!)

* a vocabulary of GC moves that work great with the stick, that you can easily and quickly weave into your dance

* a selection of Misha's new moves and combos that work fantastically well with the stick/cane (GC-inspired yet still harkening back to classic MENAHT style cane dance)

* a little follow along flow / mini choreo you can use to practice OR perform with your new skills

* comfort and ease in handling this fantastic prop!
