Bay Area! We are so ready to return to the dance and tantra mecca that is the East Bay. After five sold-out immersions over the last couple years, we can't wait to reconnect with this community for a very special immersion of Dance Meets Tantra.

We are excited to have Angela Heyun joining us as a guest facilitator to incorporate sessions of Contact Beyond Contact ('CBC') into the rich landscape of our day-long Dance Meets Tantra immersion. Angela is a teacher of Contact Beyond Contact ('CBC'), a dance & healing practice that creates spaces of embodied communication, relational growth, and community connection.

We are coming, to let go of our masks, build our capacity and explore the vulnerable, messy, sweaty, beauty of our bodies, hearts, & souls. Led by an attentive and powerful facilitation team, we will establish a trauma-informed foundation of consent, care and self-responsibility to explore and grow our capacity for embodied authenticity, attunement, and aliveness!

We are brimming over with FULL F*CK YES to bring this magic to the potent Bay Area community.

So, what is Dance Meets Tantra?

DMT - birthed in Boulder, CO and touring nationwide, has been a sold-out monthly immersion that explores the intersection of dance, transformation, tantra, contact improv, ritual theatre, and shadow-work. It is truly a transformational journey and emerging body of work committed to creating safer spaces for individuals to embrace their own wholeness (the dark and the light) while cultivating a collective group consciousness that is far greater than the sum of its parts.

Perhaps you’ve been feeling the call. For dance to evolve, deepen, and become more energetically attuned. For tantra to be more embodied, playful & activated. You intuitively know something incredible is possible when embodied movers come together with full permission to be alive, connect, and share their magic.

A note on "tantra": for us - tantra is the practice and art of being fully alive. Our intention with Dance Meets Tantra is to support people in coming into greater love, respect and relationship with themselves, each other, and the earth. We believe that dance, eros and tantra are fundamental aspects of being alive, empowered, and creative, so we invite various explorations in support of liberating our creativity and life force.

If you have more questions about sexual energy specifically, please check out our FAQ

Dance Meets Tantra is a space of:

໑ Vulnerability: to be fully alive we need to get real. We create safer spaces to compassionately own and get present to the full range of our emotions, fears, blocks and discomfort.

໑ Permission: to be the full expression of ourselves - including our sensual and erotic nature - however that looks.

໑ Safety: boundaries, consent, attunement, and self-responsibility are essential and foundational to navigating safer space together.

About the event:

This is an opportunity to spend a day moving, breathing, learning and loving together with an incredible group of embodied humans.

We will create a container and explore profound tantra and movement-based workshops that build upon each other over the course of the immersion.

You will depart this experience deeply connected with a beautiful tribe and feeling fully alive, on fire, and ready to bring new ways of being, connecting, and creating into the rest of your life.

Contact Beyond Contact sessions will be incorporated into our day-long event in a way that maintains the essence of CBC.

Angela Heyun (Guest Facilitator)

event_description_image_136860_1722003085_30aa2.jpg?_a=BAAAV6DQ

Angela Heyun is curious about everything embodiment and improvisation - all the ways we inhabit ourselves, meet life, cultivate presence and imagination, and make choices as humans together.

For her, dance is a kind of existential understanding; presence and touch are an immediate and fundamental ‘knowing.’ Angela is a Teacher of Contact Beyond Contact, a dance and healing practice for deep connection - with ourselves, in relationships, and as an interwoven community with one another and nature itself. Contact Beyond Contact emphasizes energetic attunement, inviting and being invited, embodied leadership, boundaries, dance as a practice of life, and integrates modalities including Authentic Movement, Contact Improvisation, Passing Through, Qi Gong, Family Constellations, psychology, and Taoist philosophy. Learn more about CBC at education.unityspace.org

Angela has been teaching in embodiment for a decade and into the future. Beyond CBC and its integrated modalities, she is influenced by Integrative Somatic Arts, Tango, Yoga, Tai Chi, Butoh, Feldenkrais, movement research, embodied theater, bodywork, grappling, improvised performance, voice and music improvisation. She is an ISTA graduate and a student of embodied counseling, sexology, and conscious kink.

In her facilitation, Angela creates spaces for discovery - spaces welcoming of all of our humanness, to be playful and reverent, to be with what is emerging, to go into the unknown together. She is committed to always being in the practice and learning of what she holds dear.

Testimonials for Dance Meets Tantra:

"DMT is a beautifully, well-oiled offering. The container is created with an immense amount of care, intention, and trauma-informed awareness. Atilla, Spencer, Gemma, and all of the assistants cultivated a space of permission, of grace, of courage, of trust, of exploration, of depth, of joy, of love, and of acceptance. Whether you are brand new to the worlds of tantra and dance, or a devotee of these ways of life, DMT has something to offer everyone. Thank you for an incredible experience that re-sparked inspiration in my entire being!" ~ Brooke Alexander

"Having taught Tantra for 30 years, I know when a container is pristinely created and held and was impressed with how Spencer and Atilla build and held it. Before contact in the dances, they led us through 3 "Puja" stations that integrated the wisdom shared earlier of connecting first in our energy bodies with breath and, only with presence, going to touch. These experiences prepared this experienced dance community to move into contact from outside the auric field first, so settling to the nervous system of us empaths. I felt the contact more deeply for this Tantric approach to it that I left supremely satisfied." ~Evalena Rose

"DMT empowered me to be in greater contact with my "yes's" and "no's." This container gave me permission to participate in the exact ways that I was ready for, and not push myself beyond my comfort zone in a way that was unsustainable. By the end, I had such a fun time liberating my weird/ wild/ kinky/ primal self on the dance floor and relate with others in a way that is rare to find in common dance spaces. I am forever grateful for this space and what Danny, Atilla, and Spencer are creating. Also, their facilitation is ON POINT. Raw, real, potent, and just as human as the rest of us. Give yourself the gift of DMT. :)" - Erica Shapiro

"The instructional embodied ease of the facilitation was amazing! Their ability to create a safe container to go deeper or be wildly playful as a participant was amazing and appreciated! Their ability to speak directly and precisely with clear energy and boundaries, combined with inner wisdom and strength, supported me in being more open and trusting!" ~Candy James

"It's rare that I go to something that is truly life-changing & empowering, and our Dance Meets Tantra day together was exactly that. It was one of the greatest days of personal growth, fun, and sensual exploration I've ever had." ~ Jason Lamb

"It’s truly hard to put into words the profundity of what took place at the dance meets tantra retreat. There was an undeniable intelligence moving through each day that organized the field in the exact ways it needed. Moving through layers of shadow and alchemizing them into wholeness. Each person brought a piece to the puzzle that was incredibly important and the collective healing that unfolded was beyond anything I have ever been a part of. This container allowed it all to be there - tenderness, pleasure, joy, grief, beauty, pain, ecstasy, heartbreak, heart opening. I felt deeply safe in the space (and it takes a lot for me to feel safe) and a huge reason for that is the high quality presence and care each of the facilitators brought. It really was such a special experience that I will forever hold in my heart with deep gratitude and reverence." ~Anaia Sundara

"Dance Meets Tantra was exactly what I was calling in, everything I didn’t know I needed, and beyond all my expectations all at the same time. I firmly believe that vulnerability and deep transformation in group contexts becomes possible when the container is IMPECCABLY held, where safety and invitation and expert facilitation are held in paramount importance…and not every event has that. DMT does. This team brings such a thoughtful, attentive approach towards the day and held the group with perfection, which allowed me to LET GO on a profound level. I felt the safety and space to connect with my body and with tender edges of my sexuality and expression, with the knowledge that I was deeply loved and celebrated in all of my rawness. I left DMT with a deeper understanding and embrace of my own desires, and with transformation in my relationship with my partner. My partner and I faced edges alone and together, and within DMT had the structure to lean into those and emerge in deeper love." ~Megan Beatty

Testimonials for Angela Heyun:

“Angela has a firmness and a gentleness entwined. I am realizing now that I have completed the CBC training, that that is the lesson. I have been desiring this for myself, I didn’t know what it would feel like, I just knew that it looked beautiful. But this idea that we can be solid within ourselves, that we can be firm, we can say yes, we can say no, and that it can all be done with a consciousness and a caring for others. Angela particularly exemplified that and gathered this group of hearts, a really loving experience. This week has really changed my experience of life as well as dance! I am moving through space with much more awareness whether it be on foot, in the car or the dance floor. It is as if I am literally able to take-in more of the environment, and yet this expanded awareness brings a feeling of greater calm. I don't want to lose this way of being, I want to continue to grow it. I had only anticipated the training would help me to be a more graceful dancer, and possibly help me to better share dance with others on the dance floor. In actuality, life feels more graceful and I am noticing a greater capacity for overall creative expression. Lots of life is in motion!”  ~Julie Glassmoyer

“I just want to share how absolutely amazing and life-changing the CBC Level 1 training was with Angela. I have no words actually, but I will do my best for how transformative and deep and powerful the whole practice was, every exercise, everything about it was phenomenal. I am forever changed. I will definitely be continuing on to level 2 3 4, because the work is everything my soul has been desiring. I am so grateful for Angela. Her way of teaching is extraordinary, I love everything about the way she presents. Vangelis thank you for creating such a powerful practice that is ever-expanding and all-encompassing. I am so grateful and I can’t wait to go deeper into this work with all of you.” ~ Christiel Bartles

“There is nothing that could have begun to prepare me for the transformation I have experienced this week at CBC. I am just so looking forward to bringing all these skills back home with me and getting to integrate them in my life and the lives of all the people around me back home. Angela is such a magic facilitator. I was blown away by the time we spent together this week and the depth of her knowledge and expertise, how capable she was at leading at every turn and moving with us and being flexible and showing up for us fully. It was truly more than anything I could have imagined in my wildest dreams so thank you and I am looking forward to the next course!” ~ Kristi
