Description
A non-competitive, on-leash obstacle course for you and your dog!
Canine Explorers is a 3-week, 1 hour/week class that offers:
- Confidence-building skills for both dog and person.
- A safe and interesting new experience, with novel obstacles added every week.
- An opportunity to work on dog manners in a real-life setting.
- Practice engagement and focus around people and dogs without interacting with them.
- Fun and bonding for you and your dog!
Over the course of our 3-week class, you and your dog will learn how to negotiate 15-20 novel obstacles together. This non-competitive class focuses on teamwork between dog and owner, on building bonds, and on having fun! The obstacle course is completed on leash, allowing dogs of all ages, abilities, and training backgrounds to join in. Please note that dogs will not be interacting with each other.
The obstacles on the course include dog agility equipment, children’s play obstacles, tires and more. We'll work on handling exercises first to hone the communication between you and your dog. We'll then work on navigating the obstacles at your own level as a 1-person + 1-dog team.
The class will be held in the arena of the barn at Dane County Humane Society. The substrate in the arena is a mixture of sand and ground tires. The barn is not-climate controlled, so please dress for the weather.
Class dates and times: Wednesdays, May 1 through May 15 or May 22 through June 5 or Thursdays May 23 - June 6 from 6:00 - 7:00, or 7:15 - 8:15 pm.
This class is appropriate for any dog over 3 months, but is not appropriate for dogs who bark persistently.
