Always a Mum: A Creative Workshop for Bereaved Mothers
Always a Mum: A Creative Workshop for Bereaved Mothers
A small, supported creative workshop for bereaved mothers, held as part of The Making of Mothers exhibition at The Garage Gallery, Walthamstow.
Daphne & Friends is delighted to be collaborating with artist Laura Villares House on a very special workshop exploring motherhood, memory and the babies we carry with us.
Together, six bereaved mothers will each create an individual piece of art inspired by their child - using their name, nickname or a date that holds particular significance to them.
You don’t need any artistic experience or need to arrive with an idea of what you would like to make. Laura will guide us through the creative process, while Poppy from Daphne & Friends will be there to gently facilitate the conversations and emotions that may come with making work about our babies.
The six individual pieces will come together as part of The Making of Mothers exhibition before being displayed again as part of Daphne & Friends’ Baby Loss Awareness Week activities in October.
Afterwards, your artwork will be yours to take home and keep.

The workshop takes place within the gallery during The Making of Mothers exhibition. The gallery will remain open, so there may be other visitors in the exhibition space while we are working. We want you to know this before booking so you can decide whether this environment feels right for you.
Talking about your baby is always welcome, but never required. There is no expectation to share more than you want to
All materials are provided. Just bring yourselves.
After the Making of Mothers exhibition, the art works will be displayed in Walthamstow for Baby Loss Awareness Week in October. After this they are yours to keep and cherish.
