Island Gems 2027

ISLAND GEMS:   an exploration of some of the most exquisite "gems" of beautiful Prince Edward Island with respected Canadian photographer and Island resident, Dave Brosha.

For the first time in over five years, Dave will be holding a (primarily) landscape photography workshop here on beautiful Prince Edward Island.  Called "Island Gems", it will be a three-day weekend workshop in mid-June where he shows you his absolute favourite locations on PEI, and will include both landscape and wildlife elements. Sunrises, sunsets, dunes, endless beaches, lighthouses, red dirt roads, dramatic cliffs, lush forests...hidden gems from across the island, all while diving into your creativity, the art of composition, and working towards creating stronger images with one of Canada's most respected photography educators.

Mixing classroom time with exploration across the Island, Dave will demonstrate his end-to-end approach for creating memorable landscape/nature images and help you through your own photographic process to "see" stronger, compose more creatively, and create your own gems in the process.

This is a workshop suitable for all skill levels, and Dave prides himself on spending one-on-one time with each participant throughout the course of the workshop to offer customized instruction to each.

Dates: June 18-20, 2027

Cost: $1650 + tax ($1897.50) for the three days; $750+tax non-refundable deposit needed to hold spot, balance due by Jan 30, 2027.

(NOTE: The $1650 +tax is the workshop instruction fee only - accommodation, meals, or transportation not included, although carpooling is encouraged).

DAY ONE

1PM-4:00PM -  Dave will kick off the event with introductions, slideshows, and a talk about finding your landscape vision and voice. During this afternoon presentation, Dave will cover his end-to-end landscape workflow and provide examples of how to see the world around you more strongly.

4:00PM-5:30PM - Dinner break/travel to location #1

5:30PM-7PM - Shooting location #1

7PM-9PM - Shooting location #2

9PM - 11PM - Optional/Astrophotography (if conditions permit)

DAY TWO

7:00AM - 9:30 AM Morning photography (meet on location), location #3/#4

9:30AM - 11:00AM - "on-the-go breakfast and travel to location #5"

11:00AM - 1PM- location #5

1:00PM-4:30PM - afternoon break/nap time/independent editing time

5PM - 8:30PM - Evening shooting location #6, sunset.   

DAY 3

4:45AM- 7:00AM - Sunrise photography (meet on location) location #7

7:00AM - 9:30AM - Morning light photography, location #8

9:30 - 11:00AM - Group brunch (optional)

11:30AM - 1:30PM - Participant Critique + final group editing session,/slideshow.

NOTE: While it is strongly advised to bring your own laptop for editing to best take advantage of the morning's session, don't stress if you don't have a laptop. Participants can double up and also hop onto Dave's laptop if need be.

NOTE: This workshop is limited to a maximum of 10 participants so expect a lot of hands-on shooting time with lots of support from Dave.

Transportation:

The price of the workshop does not include transportation. Participants will need to arrange car rentals or carpooling with other workshop participants.

Payment and Cancellation Policy

A $750+tax non-refundable deposit is required to hold your spot, with final payment due by Jan 30, 2027.

Spots are non-refundable but are transferable (i.e. if the participant is able to find someone else to take their spot and can sell/transfer the spot to a new participant, this is acceptable). Please note it is the participant's responsibility to sell their spot if they are unable to attend.

Parks Canada Passes:  note that a portion of this workshop will take place within the Parks Canada PEI National Park system; participants will need to already have or to purchase a day pass where required at their own cost.
