Land & See - 2020
What is Land and See? It's an annual event exploring the journey of artistic vision in landscape and portrait photography.
This event, created by passionate Canadian creative portrait and landscape photographer, Dave Brosha, aims to be a one-of-a-kind exploration of the craft of artistic photography across genres. Held in Long Creek outside the capital city of Charlottetown on beautiful Prince Edward Island, the week features a mixture of talented speakers from across North America and offer participants both seminar-style learning and hands-on shooting opportunities.
This years speakers are to be announced soon and we are SO EXCITED about the line-up!
The week is designed so that photographers who consider
themselves primarily portrait photographers can come and only go to the
portrait-related days, or take in both portrait and landscape sessions.
Vice versa for landscape photographers.
The Week's Schedule (note: exact talks, seminars, and shooting times to be finalized by mid-May):
Schedule:
July 6 - Monday, Kick-Off/CREATIVE PORTRAITURE: the
first day will feature primarily seminar-style learning on topics
including artistic inspiration, portrait styles, natural and introduced
lighting techniques, posing, creating moods, and effective
set/background design. The evening will have an open creating/shooting
time where a variety of subjects/models will be on sight for
participants to photograph.
July 7 - Tuesday, CREATIVE PORTRAITURE, Con't: the second day will be an all-day, hands-on creative slugfest featuring demos, numerous models/subjects, and various shooting groups including a mix of studio, location, and outdoor shooting. This day will be designed to give participants extensive shooting experience, with support from the Land and See team.
July 8 - Wednesday, CREATIVE POST-PROCESSING: the
middle day of the conference will be the final day for those who sign
up for a 3-day pass, the middle day for those who sign up for a 5-day
pass, and the first day for those who sign up exclusively for the 3-day
landscape. This day will not feature any photography, but will have
multiple talks on workflow, editing, staying organized, the secrets of
Adobe Lightroom, and advanced Photoshop techniques, followed by an
inspiration talk from one of our non-photographer speakers. In the
evening, we'll have a mid-event fun night.
July 9 - Thursday, CREATIVE LANDSCAPE: the
first landscape day will feature primarily seminar-style learning on
topics including artistic vision in the outdoor realm, composition,
adventure photography, creative techniques, filters, long exposures, and
sunset photography.
July 10 - Friday, CREATIVE LANDSCAPE, con't: our
finale day will be an exhausting, exhilirating, inspiring day spent
largely in the field, finishing off with celebration. First, we'll wake
for pre-dawn landscape shooting at one of numerous near-by beautiful
island scenes. Shooting will continue through multiple locations over
the course of the morning (participants will be split across various
locations for most effective shooting opportunities). In the afternoon
we'll meet up for a group editing session, slideshow of participant's
work, and critique.
FINALE: At 5PM
on the evening of July 10th we'll end the 5-day Land and See event with a
lobster supper (other food alternatives including vegetarian will be
available for those who can't or don't like lobster) and celebration.
Spouses/traveling partners are invited to come to the final dinner, too,
for the cost of $25/person.
