A 1940's Dance Party ft. Andy Mears Octet & The Material Girls - 60th Anniversary Special

Step back in time and join us for a fabulous evening of live swing, jazz and 1940s classics as we celebrate 60 years of Dawkes.

Whether you want to dance the night away or simply soak up the atmosphere, this promises to be a fun-filled evening inspired by the golden age of the dance band. Expect timeless favourites by Glenn Miller, Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Ted Heath and more, performed by the outstanding Andy Mears Octet, featuring regular members of the ensemble alongside past and present members of the RAF Squadronaires.

Adding to the celebrations are special guests The Material Girls, Dawkes' own 40s-style vocal harmony group, performing a selection of vintage favourites both on their own and with the band.

This event also celebrates a special part of Dawkes' history. Before founding the business in 1966, Jack Dawkes was a member of the legendary Squadronaires, making this the perfect way to honour his musical legacy during our anniversary year.

About Andy Mears

Andy began writing for the octet about 20 years ago, and a key motivation was to be able to offer a 'big band' sound for venues where space or budget was slimmer. It has been an outlet for Andy's own intricately crafted arrangements and compositions, as well as those by other members of the group, and the library of music is now broad and varied.

Whilst serving with RAF Music, and as leader of the RAF Squadronaires, the octet was a popular and busy ensemble. Notable performances included: Buckingham Palace Diplomatic Reception; Covent Garden Poppy Appeal, London 2012 Olympics, Cyprus; Gymkhana Club and High Commission, Delhi.

Seat Allocations

Please be aware that due to limited space, there will be a restricted number of seats available at the event. We highly recommend arriving early to secure a table. There will be a limited quantity of Premier Seats available for this event, all of which offer extra comfort and a guaranteed seat for the evening.

Refunds

All sales are non-refundable. If the event is rescheduled, all purchases will be honoured for the next event date. If you cannot attend the event, you may transfer your purchase to another person. If the event is cancelled, all purchases will be refunded in full.

Getting Here & Parking Info

We have 30 free parking spaces, including two spaces at the front of the building for Blue Badge holders and two electric charging points. Extra on-street parking is available after 6pm and on Sundays.

Trains run regularly to Maidenhead from Reading and London Paddington. We are a five-minute taxi ride/twenty-minute walk from the station.
